It took me nearly a decade to find my voice to speak up about my rape. I am now blessed to be able to use my voice to help others. Help break the silence!

When something so precious is stolen from you in such a quiet and violent way, you are left numb and confused. After being in an abusive relationship for 2.5 years my eyes opened enough to leave. It has almost been a year since I have left and I just recently found my voice again. I lost myself for a long time and I am still searching for the woman I was.

For too long I had no self-worth, confidence or emotions…I was simply going through the motions of everyday life as if nothing had happened to me. It was always my fault and I believed him. It brings a tear to my eye and a sharp pain to my heart to think I was so foolish to stay with him. But I cannot look back and ask “what if…” I have to face the reality and deal with the hurt he caused me.

Although I cannot change him or hurt him the way he hurt me, I can help others because God has turned my torture into triumph!

By sharing our stories I hope that we can put an end to sexual violence in our society. It's been around for way too long and people need to step up and take the reponsibility for their actions. Until that happens, we can not solve anything. Where do these people get off thinking they can commit crimes against innocent people and get away with it. We as a society need to change the laws and make these criminals pay for their crimes. We need to set aside our feelings of coming across too harsh in punishing these criminals and do what needs to be done. The criminals did not take our feelings into consideration when they were committing the crime against us, so we need to in turn not consider any punishment too great for them. We need to make them pay and.PAY DEARLY!!!!!!!
