Victim Services, Inc.: Legal Advocate - Somerset

Victim Services Inc. (VS) is seeking a passionate individual to fill the entry level role of Legal Advocate in Somerset County. Legal Advocates provide assistance, accompaniment and support in a trauma-informed, victim-centered, and culturally competent manner to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes as they navigate the criminal or civil justice systems. This position will also work closely with the criminal justice system to strengthen the response to survivors of violence. The ideal candidate will be victim-centered and can effectively balance advocating for their clients’ needs while maintaining strong relationships with allied professionals. Extensive and ongoing training in working with survivors of crime will be provided. This position is full time and includes medical, dental, & vision insurance, generous paid time off, life insurance, & 401K participation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred - training, work history, and life experience considered
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Reliable, personal transportation
  • Act 33, 34 and 114 clearances

Ideally, we are seeking individuals who are able to function somewhat independently and have the capacity to be compassionate yet resilient in the face of continued exposure to trauma. Pay: $28,500.00 - $31,500.00 per year
