This is a FREE training.
Responding to reports of sexual violence against older adults and adults with IDD requires a trauma-informed approach. This interactive, all-day training for investigators will provide an overview of specific considerations for these challenging investigations, including:
- Dynamics of sexual violence
- Trauma-informed response
- Victim behaviors/response
- Victim-centered approaches and self-determination philosophical applications
- Strategies for working with people with complex communication needs, as well as accommodating the individual needs of older adults and individuals with IDD
- Options for survivors
- Collaboration with victim services
- Vicarious trauma
- Self-care
This training has been approved for PS enrichment credits by the Department of Aging.
