Strengthening the Multidisciplinary Response to Sexual Assault - Part 2
Strong multidisciplinary collaboration requires more than understanding each partner's role—it also requires understanding what effective practice looks like across disciplines.
Advocates and other community partners do not need to become police investigators. However, understanding the fundamental components of a comprehensive sexual assault investigation can empower SART and MDT members to participate more effectively in case review, policy discussions, training initiatives, and broader systems-improvement efforts.
This webinar will take participants inside the investigative process and examine what a thorough, trauma-informed sexual assault investigation should look like—from the initial response and victim interview through evidence collection, corroboration, suspect-focused investigation, digital evidence, follow-up, and case presentation.
The emphasis will not be on teaching community partners how to conduct a police investigation, but rather on helping them understand what investigative best practices look like. This shared understanding can strengthen multidisciplinary conversations, identify opportunities for systems improvement, and help communities develop a more consistent and effective response to sexual assault.
