Tatiana Piper Receives 2021 Victim Service Pathfinder Award

HARRISBURG— Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf recently named PCAR’s Tatiana Piper a 2021 recipient of the Victim Service Pathfinder Award.

Tatiana Piper, Community Advocacy Coordinator, at the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR), is a 2021 recipient of the Victim Service Pathfinder Award from Governor Tom Wolf.

Piper, PCAR’s Community Advocacy Coordinator, has worked at the coalition since 2016 providing statewide trainings and meetings for sexual assault advocates and allied professionals.  More recently she has focused her talents on under- and unserved survivors of sexual violence by collaborating with federal, state and local agencies.

Ms. Piper received the Indirect Service Award to recognize her creation of eight e-learning courses to help people better serve incarcerated survivors of sexual assault and collaborate with corrections staff.

“Tatiana continues to provide incredibly valuable education to help more people understand the complex depth of sexual violence and its pervasiveness to help support survivors of violence and engage others to act as community leaders to prevent future violence,” PCAR CEO Karen Baker said “We are so proud to see one of our colleagues be celebrated for their commitment to this work and making a positive impact toward ending sexual violence.” The Governor's Victim Service Pathfinder Award is a prestigious award given annually to a victim service professionals and programs at the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD)’s Office of Victim Services’ Pathways Conference.

As Governor Wolf noted in the presentation of the awards, “victim service providers all across Pennsylvania do hard work every day to support victims of crime, and make a big difference in our communities.  Each year, the Pathfinder Awards recognize victim service professionals who have gone above and beyond, and deserve to be honored for their notable contributions to their communities and the victim service provider field.”

We encourage the public to join PCAR in recognizing Ms. Piper and her fellow recipients of their accomplishments in this year’s Pathfinder Awards.  For more information on Tatiana Piper’s contributions in particular please view her award presentation at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OttkOOXCmk.
