The time has come. After more than 23 years at the helm of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape and National Sexual Violence Resource Center, I am stepping into retirement effective today and turning the keys over to an amazingly talented and well-respected colleague, Karen Baker. I’m fortunate to have worked with Karen for nearly two decades.
She brings a familiarity of Pennsylvania and a wealth of national connections that will continue to keep the Commonwealth at the forefront of the fight to eliminate sexual harassment and violence.
I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished during my time at PCAR—and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead in the wake of the #metoo movement. It is truly a watershed moment.
Our communities are now listening and eyes are opening to the pervasiveness of sexual violence in our communities. It’s a hard reality for many to realize. But the good news is that it is preventable and more and more folks like you are joining in the fight to prevent sexual abuse and help those who have been victimized.
Thank you.
Thank you for standing with me. Thank you for supporting PCAR and the NSVRC. And thank you for continuing to carry the mission forward.
While I’m stepping away from PCAR/NSVRC, I will never stop working to eliminate sexual violence. I will remain a dedicated advocate for our children and each person affected by –or who loves someone forever changed by –sexual violence.
I will cherish the relationships I’ve built, friends who became family and yes, the hard-fought victories along the way!
However, there are still more victories to achieve.
So I ask you today—consider it my final professional request to you!—to make a donation in support of the work of PCAR and NSVRC.
Together, we can end sexual violence.
